Hello guys I’ve
been riding Honda bike since 2017, so it should be obvious that, for me, there are
more pluses than minuses to riding a motorcycle of Honda Company. But you’ve asked for
the reasons NOT to buy a motorcycle of Honda.
I am facing engine heating issue in my Honda hornet 160 and gear
shifting problem. when it comes to pick up it is worst than 120 cc bike
if you slow down the bike then you have to shift to first gear to move
the bike ..else engine will jerk and it wont get minimum speed.also the
gear is very hard sometimes it wont work while riding ..have ti stop and
de clutch then it works.
1.Engine Heating
The engine heats up very quickly and takes lot of time to cool down. This happens when you shift between gears very often. Though is common in all bikes but observed here it is more compared to other bikes. In starting you may feel it is annoying you.
2.Engine Kill Switch
There is no engine kill switch (feels uncomfortable while commuting in city) .
Being a premium segment bike Honda is not offering a kill switch. I know it is no a deal breaker but still it would be a added advantage whenever you are in traffic to switch of your engine.
3.Handling and Comfort
On city ride you feel very uncomfortable while riding in traffic. I felt pulsar handles are placed better for any rider.
4. Big rear tyre but less power to pull it quickly.
5.After reaching 100+kmph it feels like 6th gear is missing because the bike struggles a bit.
6.Very dull headlight compared to other bike. In night time its hard to ride bike.
7.Sometimes I hear Very light Engine tapping sound which is irritating …. (Other than these the bike is best as a commuter with good mileage low maintenance and smooth engine) .
8. The issue with the chain of Honda CB Hornet 160R is that the chain tends to get loose very often & it makes a noise which for some bikers might be irritating. Usually this problem occurs during the break-in-period.
I am actually disappointed with this bikes manufacturing department. there are lots of problems in its manufacturing. system of oil tank to remove oil is also faulty. The power and performance is super. I had yamaha fz which doesn't show any fault in last 6 years. and service of yamaha is also better than honda . I have massage to honda Nepal regarding this issue they did not rosponse me till now .

- Serious power loss, Struggling hard to get into 60 to 70, and produce hard sound

I am riding hornet 160 r older version and i dont have any problem like you have stated except frequent loosening of chain. Thats all... initial power is great .. i can ride slowly in second gear too .. which is very comfortable and fulfill its purpose of commuter bike .. however dont buy this bike if you want to go and race with r15 or ktm rc etc.
