Shivaratri is regarded as one of the biggest festival in the holy scluptures of the Hindus-Puranas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
There is saying that even god feels cold in this day that is why devotees organize bonfires at public squares, houses, temples and shrines and perform prayers to please Lord Shiva. The religious belief is that if one offers milk, Dhaturo (a kind of intoxicating plant) and 'Belpatra' to Lord Shiva and observes a night-long fasting, he/she will receive heavenly blessings. Devotees from inside country and outside country come to worship Lord Shiva at Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu.
Shivaratri festival is also famous among Youth and children. Children comes into road with ropes and block the road to collect few amounts to enjoy while same thing is done by youth to manage 'Prasad' at Sivaratri night.
While weed is famous among youth religious devotee as 'Prasad' on this day. Weeds fall in intoxicating material that is why youth seems to be attracted on this festival. It is also being one of the major issue in the society. Those who think this festival as a platform for using intoxicating material creates such issue. Most of the youth did not know or are not interested in understanding the fact about the festival and the lesson we need to take from the festival.
According to a few God realized Yogis, Shivaratri was the day when Lord Shiva drank poisonous negativity to protect the world. Youth need to understand the fact and get lesson rather than getting into addiction to intoxicating material. We need to be provider and should be able to take out negativity of others that are being hindrance for being characterful and successful person which can be helpful to make wise society and a nation with wise people breaking the trend to see dark side like getting into intoxicating material and enjoying the festival spreading positivity.
