Nepali New Year celebrators throng to Tilicho Lake

Manang, April 13: Tilicho Lake, a popular tourism destination in Manang district, is increasingly becoming popular for holiday makers, and New Year celebrators.

Every year lately, New Year celebrators throng to the Lake to make best of their special day.

Among those who make it to the Lake to rejoice an occasion is Sneha Karki. Karki is planning to push way to the Lake to celebrate New Year 2075 that falls tomorrow (Saturday).

More than 500 domestic tourists reached the Lake for celebrating New Year 2074 last year, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area,

The number of New Year 2075 celebrators pushing their way to the Lake may double, said Chairperson of the Tourism Entrepreneur Association of Manang Binod Gurung, adding that hotels in and around the tourist destination are packed every year on the eve and the day of Nepali New Year.

Located in Manang district, approximately 55 kilometers from the tourist city of Pokhara, and situated at an altitude of 4,919 meters, the Lake is known as the highest lake for its size in the world. It is also the destination for a popular side hike in the Annapurna Circuit trek.

Panorama of the natural beauty of the area, and typical tradition and lifestyle of the local community also allure tourists both domestic and foreign.
